Adult and Adolescent Group Therapy, Support Groups, & Intensive Outpatient (IOP) Group Counseling

Kansas City Psychotherapy provides group psychotherapy and counseling for adults and adolescents in Missouri and Kansas, as well as virtual groups online via Skype, FaceTime or Google Hangout.  Our practice is an emotionally safe and judgment-free space where together we can explore challenges in your life ranging from feeling more empowered to building stronger social skills.  Together we work on decreasing stress in one’s life, improving relationships, becoming more aware of one’s needs, and developing a stronger sense of self-empowerment.  Many of our clients are coping with anger, stress, substance, or family issues.  Individuals may be dealing with past trauma, grieving from loss, or coping with general life concerns such as anxiety, depression, life transition, co-dependency, anger management, spiritual conflict, substance abuse, bipolar disorder, alcoholism, anxiety or phobias, crises, or self-worth.

Below is a description of the adult mental health groups that Kansas City Psychotherapy offers in the Missouri and Kansas City area, as well as an on-line (online) Internet group, online adult groups, or virtual adult group therapy.  Groups are open to individuals from all walks of life including any race, ethnicity, religion, gender, gender identity, or sexual orientation.  We focus on a variety of life issues, including strengthening relationships, managing break-ups or divorce, enhancing intimacy and sex life, or processing challenges related to one’s sexual or gender identity (including Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, or Questioning (LGBTQ)).  We also address a wide range of additional concerns such as shyness, communication issues, self-worth, shame, anxiety, depression, sexual trauma or abuse, sex addiction, drug and alcohol addiction, body image, .

Members of our groups live in Kansas City, as well as the Greater Kansas City area.  We believe that self-compassion, emotional intelligence, and mindful presence are essential components of any healthy individual.  There are a number of  therapists, counselors or psychologists who conduct group therapy, but few who are trained to address the challenges faced by individuals dealing with anxiety, depression, anger management, grief or loss, life transition, and other chronic mental health problems.  Our approach is collaborative and open-minded when it comes to determining what type of therapeutic goals are best for you.  We begin by enhancing communication skills, getting in touch with underlying feelings, and working through resentment or trust issues that may have eroded your internal foundation.
